Applied Machine Learning Scientist

 At RaySearch Laboratories, we develop advanced software solutions that support cancer treatment and improve clinical workflows worldwide. We are now looking to hire an Applied Machine Learning Scientist to join a team that develops deep learning models for medical image analysis, deployed to clinics all over the world. Our deep learning segmentation models have, for example, been used in the treatment of more than 500,000 cancer patients.  

About the job

You will be part of a team that consists of machine learning engineers who develop tools and pipelines for deep learning model training, and machine learning scientists who work on model development in close collaboration with clinical experts.

As an Applied Machine Learning Scientist, you will design, run and manage model training experiments with the goal of releasing models for clinical use.

You will:

• Develop and validate ML models for medical image analysis
• Collaborate with clinical experts to translate requirements into modeling approaches
• Define evaluation strategies, metrics, and validation protocols
• Design, run, and manage model training experiments
• Implement and automate model evaluation pipelines
• Analyze model performance and systematically improve results
• Investigate failure modes and resolve performance issues
• Document model validation processes and results to support product releases
• Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to ensure compliant model validation

Your profile

• MSc in an engineering or science field (e.g. Engineering physics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering
• 3+ years of experience in Machine learning
• Experience in ML model development (deep learning preferred)
• Ability to design experiments and evaluation methods independently
• Comfortable working with real-world, noisy data
• Python for data processing, modeling, and evaluation
• Working knowledge of databases (e.g., SQL) for data extraction and analysis
• Ability to build simple training and evaluation pipelines/scripts
• Enjoy collaborating with domain experts (e.g., clinicians)
• Strong focus on scientific rigor and validation
• Structured and delivery-focused way of working and are comfortable planning tasks and following through to ensure results are delivered on time
